Preparing document…
Create a Word file from text in three steps
Paste the text you want to edit later
Add a document title if you want to name the file. Start a line with #, ## or ### for a heading, or - and 1. for a list. Review the text in the preview.
Choose the DOCX page layout
Keep Word selected, then set A4 or Letter, orientation, margins, type and line spacing. If your text already starts with its title as a # heading, turn off “Include document title” to avoid a duplicate.
Create and open the Word file
Select “Create & download”, open the DOCX in a word processor, then check headings, lists, accented text and the last page. The preview page count is only an estimate.
Choose a Word layout for your document
| When | Settings to try | Check in the DOCX |
|---|---|---|
| Write a document to read or print | Choose A4 or Letter for your paper, Portrait and Normal margins. | Open the file and inspect the headings, margins and last page. |
| Need wider lines | Try Landscape; use Narrow margins if you need more room. | Review line wraps and space at the end of pages. |
| The document runs longer than expected | Reduce font size or line spacing slightly, then recreate it. | Compare the actual page count with readability; the preview count is only an estimate. |
The Word file contains text you can edit. Use the preview to check content, then inspect the DOCX in your word processor for its final page breaks.
If the Word file is not as expected
- The document title appears twice
- If your text already has the title as a # heading, turn off “Include document title” and recreate the file.
- Page breaks or lists differ from the preview
- Open the downloaded file and inspect the last page. Adjust margins, type size or spacing; for lists, start each item with - or 1., then recreate it.
- The DOCX will not generate or download
- Enter a title or some text. If the file library will not load, check your connection and retry; split very long text into smaller parts.
Your draft in this browser
Your text and settings are saved when this browser allows it and shared with the document generator and PDF page. Choose “Clear” on a shared device; keep your download because clearing browser data can remove the draft. DOCX generation happens on your device, with a library loaded from an external source when needed.
