How to extract audio from video
Choose a video with audio
Choose one video from your device. A video without an audio track cannot produce an MP3.
Choose a suitable bitrate
Start with 192 kbps; use 128 kbps for a smaller file or 320 kbps when the source is good and file size matters less.
Preview and download the MP3
Listen to the start, middle and end of the output to check volume and missing audio before downloading.
Choose a bitrate for the next task
All three settings re-encode the source audio as MP3. A higher setting usually creates a larger file; the useful choice depends on your source and how you will listen.
| Bitrate | Choose it when | Check after export |
|---|---|---|
| 128 kbps | You need a smaller file for speech or quick sharing. | Listen to quiet parts and speech for lost clarity. |
| 192 kbps | You have no strict size target; this is a balanced starting point. | Preview music and speech, then check file size. |
| 320 kbps | The source audio is good and a potentially larger file is acceptable. | Compare with the source before keeping it; a high bitrate cannot restore missing detail. |
Which part of the video becomes MP3?
Audio in the MP3 file
The tool takes the video’s audio track across the full duration and creates one MP3; the output has no picture. To keep just an excerpt, create the MP3 and trim it with Audio Cutter.
Video files you can select
MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and AVI can be selected. Success still depends on the audio track, codec and available device memory; AVI may take longer in compatibility mode.
If the MP3 is silent or conversion fails
- The video has no audio track
- Play the source first. For a screen recording, enable system audio sharing or the microphone for the next recording if your browser offers it.
- The source has audio, but the MP3 sounds silent
- Listen to the beginning, middle and end of the source; a higher bitrate cannot fix muted or very quiet audio. Check playback volume in the MP3 preview.
- The format cannot be read or processing stops
- Try a shorter video, close other tabs and use another codec. You can convert the video to MP4/WebM with Video Format Converter and try again.
Where is the file processed?
This conversion flow reads the video and creates MP3 in your browser using Mediabunny or FFmpeg WebAssembly served by KitoTool. It does not send video contents to a conversion API; the page still sends general page analytics. The source file on your device is unchanged.
