Compress images online, control your file size
Are your images too large to email or upload to a website? Choose a compression quality or set a KB/MB limit per image so KitoTool can find a suitable setting. Compare file size and image quality before and after, then download images individually or together as a ZIP.

Choose images from your device
Click Choose Images or drop up to 30 JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or SVG images. Images are processed on your device for compression.
Choose quality or a target size
Use By quality to adjust settings yourself, or By target size to enter a limit from 1 KB to 100 MB for each image. Choose an output format accepted by the destination.
Check before downloading
Select each image to compare the original and result. Check file size, pixel dimensions, clarity and whether the target was met.
Download an image or the batch as a ZIP
Download when size and quality meet your needs. For a batch, download all results as a ZIP and check the files inside before sharing or publishing.
Choose the right compression settings
| What do you need? | Choose in the tool | Check the result |
|---|---|---|
| An image below a KB/MB limit | By target size → enter a limit per image. | Check whether the target was met; very small limits may be unreachable. |
| Smaller photos or website images | By quality → try the default setting; keep the format or try WebP if supported by your website. | Compare faces, small text and file size; WebP is not always the smallest option. |
| Logos or transparent backgrounds | Keep PNG/WebP or select either output format. | Check edges and colors. JPG replaces transparent areas with white. |
| GIFs that must stay animated | Keep original format → adjust 2–256 colors in By quality mode. | Check animation and colors; exporting a GIF as WebP/PNG/JPG creates a still image. |
| An image with specific width and height | Resize images first, then return here if further compression is needed. | Compression keeps pixel dimensions; check both dimensions and file size requirements. |
SVG becomes a still WebP image with the default setting. APNG and animated WebP motion is not preserved; keep the original if animation is required. If you only need to change the format, use Convert image formats.
Set a KB/MB limit without trying each setting yourself
Need an image below 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB? Select By target size and enter a limit for each image. KitoTool tries multiple settings and favors a higher quality setting found within the limit.
The result may be smaller than the entered limit. An original that already fits may be kept when retaining its format; if the target is not met, read the notice and troubleshooting steps below.
Reduce file size while keeping important details clear
80% quality does not mean an 80% reduction in file size. Compare the original and result at their intended display size; raise the setting if text, hair or gradients look worse. Do not lower quality just to save a few more KB.
JPG/WebP may lose detail; PNG at 100% preserves colors, while lower settings may make gradients less smooth. Resize first if the image is larger than its intended display size.
Compressing a batch? Check images with fine detail, text or transparency before downloading the ZIP.
If the image is still too large or compression fails
- Target not met
- Raise the limit if allowed, try another accepted format, or resize the original and compress again.
- Little or no size reduction
- The image may already be optimized. When keeping the same format, the original is retained if the new version is not smaller. Only switch formats if the destination accepts them, then compare results.
- The size fits but the destination rejects the image
- Check the accepted format, pixel dimensions and destination error message. If its byte calculation differs, try a slightly lower target and submit again.
- The tab slows down, errors, or cannot optimize a GIF
- Try fewer images per batch and close other tabs. If the browser cannot optimize animated GIFs, the original GIF may be kept; check the notice before downloading.
Images are compressed on your device
Images are compressed in your browser; their contents are not uploaded to KitoTool servers for processing. Original files are unchanged. For large images or batches, split the batch if the tab slows down. The website may use cookies and analytics.
Frequently Asked Questions about Image Compressor
Quick answers to common questions about Image Compressor and how to use the tool effectively.
Does compression remove all EXIF/GPS data?
Not guaranteed. Re-encoded images generally do not copy source metadata, but a retained original can still contain EXIF/GPS. If you need to remove location information before sharing, check with a dedicated metadata tool.
Can I use HEIC images from an iPhone?
Current inputs are JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG. Export or convert HEIC to an accepted format before selecting the file; renaming its extension does not convert it.
Should I compress an image repeatedly?
Change settings using the original already open in the tool, rather than compressing a previously compressed download again. This makes comparisons easier and avoids accumulating detail loss across saves.
