How to use the Markdown editor

1

Create or import a file

Choose New file, or use Import file to open .md, .markdown or .txt. The file is added to the selected workspace.

2

Write and format

Type Markdown or use the toolbar to insert headings, lists, links, tables and code. Check for the Saved status before closing the tab.

3

Check the preview

Choose Split to write and preview together, or Preview to check headings, tables, checklists and links before exporting.

4

Download or share

In Export, download .md for further editing, .html for a standalone page, or JSON to back up the whole workspace. Select Share only when you want to upload the current file.

Choose an output

Keep Markdown for editing

Choose Export → Markdown (.md) to download the open file. For multiple files, choose Workspace (.json) to back up everything and import it later.

Use HTML

Choose HTML page (.html) for a styled standalone page, or Copy HTML for the rendered markup. Check links and images after moving it elsewhere.

Print or save PDF

Choose Print / Save PDF, then select a printer or Save as PDF in your browser dialog. Check the print preview before saving.

Share the current file

Choose Share, set View only or Can edit, then select Create link. Recipients edit their own copy; their changes do not update your original.

If a draft or preview looks wrong

Draft cannot be saved
If the status says “Could not save”, site storage may be full or blocked. Download .md or workspace JSON before closing the tab; clearing site data can also erase local drafts.
Markdown looks different than expected
Check # marks, spaces and table separator rows in Split view. Raw HTML is shown as text; unsupported links may not open.
Cannot create a share link
Check your connection and document size: snapshots are limited to 300 KB. You can still download .md or HTML and send it another way.

Does sharing send my whole workspace?

No. When you select Create link, only the open file is sent to the KitoTool server as a snapshot. It remains available for up to 90 days; do not share confidential information.

Can I recover a file deleted from a workspace?

The editor has no trash or version history. If you previously exported Workspace (.json), use Import file to restore that backup.
