How to trim a video segment
Choose the source video
Use one MP4 or WebM file up to 100 MB that your browser can play.
Preview and set the points
Play the video and use its current position as the start or end point, or enter times directly.
Trim and inspect the output
Download the new clip, play its beginning and end, and check the audio before sharing.
Choose a segment and what to check
The tool creates one clip from one continuous time range. Preview helps set the points; the downloaded file shows the actual cut and audio.
| You want to | Action | Check the output |
|---|---|---|
| Remove the beginning or end | Set the start after 0 or the end before the source duration. | Play the first and last few seconds for missing frames or clipped speech. |
| Keep a scene in the middle | Set both points around the scene you want to keep. | Compare the opening with the preview; fast trimming may begin at a nearby keyframe. |
What will the trimmed file contain?
Keeps the source format
MP4 exports as MP4, WebM as WebM. Video and audio streams are copied when supported by the container; the tool does not change the codec or bitrate.
Check the exact cut
Stream copy avoids re-encoding but does not promise frame-accurate cuts. The start may move to a nearby keyframe, and actual duration may differ from the entered range.
If the video will not open or trim
- The file will not preview
- Choose an MP4 or WebM file with a codec your browser can play. Convert it with Video Format Converter and try again.
- The time range is invalid
- Enter a start at or after 0 and an end after the start but within the video duration. Use a dot for fractional seconds.
- Processing stops or the output will not play
- Try a shorter clip, close other tabs if memory is low, and reload the page. Some codec/container combinations cannot be copied as-is; convert the source and trim again.
Where is the video processed?
The page reads and trims the file in your browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly served by KitoTool; this trimming flow does not upload video contents to a conversion API. The page still sends general page analytics. The source file on your device is unchanged.
