Compress video online and preview before downloading
Video too large to send or post? Choose a file to compress by quality, or enter a KB/MB limit first. KitoTool reports whether the limit was met and lets you preview the result before downloading.

One MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV file · up to 500 MBHow to compress video on KitoTool
Enter a limit if needed, then choose a file
Leave File size limit blank to compress by quality, or enter a KB/MB limit before clicking Choose Video. A run accepts one MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV file up to 500 MB.
Adjust and retry from the original
After the first result, change the limit and click Compress to limit; or click Clear limit to use Output Quality. Choose Keep original, 1080p, 720p or 480p to retry at another resolution.
Check status and play the result
Check file size and met/not-met status, then play the result. If the source already meets the limit, it is kept unchanged. Click Download Result Video when the result works for you.
Choose settings for your task
| Need | Action in the tool | Trade-off and check |
|---|---|---|
| Make a file smaller for email or messaging | Check the destination limit and enter KB/MB before choosing a file, or change it on the results screen. | Read the met/not-met status; a very low limit may be unreachable. Play the result before sending. |
| Prioritize video clarity | Choose Keep original if pixel dimensions matter; raise Output Quality and compare. | The file may shrink little or not at all. Check text, faces and motion in the preview. |
| A smaller video for a website | Try 720p or 480p when the display size allows; compare the file size and play it on the target device. | Lowering the resolution gives each frame fewer pixels and often helps reduce file size. The output can be MP4 or WebM, so check which format the destination supports. |
| Only need a different frame size or format | Resize video or convert video format. | That is a resize or format-conversion task; do not compress solely to make that change. |
Set a KB/MB limit for one video
Enter a maximum before choosing a video, or change it on the results screen and click Compress to limit. The tool tries several quality settings at the selected resolution; the result can be smaller than the number entered.
If the source already fits, the tool keeps it unchanged. Otherwise, it shows the smallest result found and marks Not met when necessary; try 480p if a smaller frame is acceptable, or raise the limit. Do not send a Not met result where the limit is strict.
Reduce size while keeping the details you need
Without a KB/MB limit, the quality slider lets you balance size and detail; its number is not a promised reduction percentage. With a limit, the tool tries quality settings and temporarily disables the slider. Preview text, faces and motion; click Clear limit to adjust quality yourself.
When compressing sources taller than 720p, the first pass defaults to 720p. To retain 1080p/4K, choose Keep original and check the new size. If your main goal is a different aspect ratio or frame size, use the video resizer.
If the result is too large or compression fails
- Limit not met or file not smaller
- Try 720p/480p if a smaller frame is acceptable, or raise the limit. In quality mode, lower the setting and retry; an optimized source may not produce a smaller copy.
- The picture loses detail
- Raise quality, choose Keep original when source resolution matters and play the result again before downloading.
- The file or result will not play
- Support depends on your browser and the codecs inside the file. Try a current Chrome/Edge version, another file, or the dedicated format converter.
- Slow processing or file above the limit
- A run accepts one file up to 500 MB. Close other tabs, use a device with enough memory or shorten the source before retrying.

Frequently Asked Questions about Video Compressor
Quick answers to common questions about Video Compressor and how to use the tool effectively.
Can I set a maximum video size in MB?
Yes. Enter a KB/MB limit for one video before choosing the file or on the results screen. The tool marks Met when the file does not exceed it; otherwise, it marks Not met rather than promising an exact size.
Will the download be MP4 or WebM?
A compressed result prefers MP4 but may be WebM depending on browser support. If the source already meets the limit, it is kept in its original format; check the extension and destination support before sharing.
