Paste text and choose what to clean
Turn pasted text into a reusable plain-text result
Paste text
Paste the text you want to clean into the input box. Use the sample to see how spaces, blank lines, leading bullets and simple HTML tags are handled.
Choose cleanup
Select only the changes you need. By default, the tool collapses spaces, removes blank lines, strips simple HTML tags and adjusts punctuation spacing; leading bullets and URLs have separate switches.
Review result
Select Clean text, compare the input and result, then copy or download TXT. If you change the text or an option, run the tool again before using the output.
Choose options for the issues in your text
| Option | Effect and what to review |
|---|---|
| Collapse whitespace | Collapse repeated spaces/tabs and trim each line. Turn it off if spacing in tables, code or poetry must stay intact. |
| Remove blank lines | Remove all blank lines while keeping nonempty lines separate. Turn it off to preserve spacing between paragraphs. |
| Remove leading bullets | Remove common line prefixes such as •, -, * or a number with a period/parenthesis. The line text remains; review lists whose structure matters. |
| Remove URLs | Remove strings beginning with http://, https:// or www.; this does not check links or remove every bare domain. |
| Strip HTML tags | Remove common <tag> markup; br and closing p tags become line breaks before cleanup. This is simple text handling, not a full HTML converter or entity decoder. |
| Adjust punctuation spacing | Remove spaces before punctuation and add a space after some marks next to letters. Common URLs, emails and decimal numbers are preserved; still review code, abbreviations and special data. |
Check the structure before copying
- What this tool handles
- This tool cleans pasted text; it does not open PDF/Word files or fetch a website. If a PDF paste breaks lines in the middle of sentences, use Remove Line Breaks in Related Tools; this page keeps nonempty lines separate. If you only need to fix spaces and tabs, Extra Whitespace Remover handles that narrower task.
- What may be removed
- Removing URLs, bullets or blank lines can discard source information or list structure. “Strip HTML tags” does not remove script/style content as a browser would, decode , or sanitize untrusted HTML for a website. Compare the result with the original when exact data matters.
Where are the text and draft stored?
Text cleanup runs in your browser. When local storage is available, the page remembers the input and options on this device for your next visit; Clear removes that draft and the visible result. The download is a UTF-8 TXT containing the output, not a Word or HTML file.
